The road to Kentucky Derby 2024 continues at Remington Park on Friday, December 15, and I have included Remington Springboard Mile 2023 picks below. The listed stakes event for 2-year-olds has a $300,000 purse and the nine entrants will be traveling a flat mile on the main track. It is the 10th race on Dec. 15 and the top five finishers will earn Kentucky Derby points (10-5-3-2-1).

Remington Springboard Mile 2023 Picks & Final Time Ratings

Fidget is one of two entrants for trainer Brad Cox. The improving More Than Ready colt added blinkers and won his last two flat mile starts at Horseshoe Indy.

Gettysburg Address stalked and scored in his Ellis Park sprint debut. He caught the slop in the Grade 3 Street Sense Stakes second time out, and he set the pace before weakening in that 1 1/6 miles race on the Derby trail. Flavien Prat knows him now and Brad Cox’s second entrant should be forwardly placed.

Magic Grant was no threat in his local sprint bow. He was 23-1 in the Clever Trevor at seven panels second time out, and the Good Magic colt rallied from par back to win by 4 1/2 lengths. The pace should be honest and he will try to get involved in the lane.

Glengarry is an Iowa-bred colt with three wins from as many starts. He dueled and kicked away in his debut on Aug. 28. The runner-up from that heat was a next-out winner, and this colt romped by a dozen lengths in the Iowa Cradle on Sept. 30. He shipped to Keeneland and held on by a half-length in the Bowman Mill last time, and two runners from that heat returned to capture stakes races. All of his races were at six panels and he tries to navigate an additional two furlongs in this spot.

Raging Torrent captured his five panel debut at Del Mar in July. He was a clear, distant show finisher in the Grade 3 Best Pal, and was fourth in the Del Mar Futurity (G1) and American Pharoah (G1) in his last pair. He removes blinkers and figures to stalk the pace under Antonio Fresu.

Otto the Conqueror is a $450k Street Sense colt exiting back-to-back wins at seven panels. He won in the slop on Oct. 29 and that was a key race. Runner-up Honor Marie returned to take the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (G2), and show finisher Just Steel captured the Ed Brown Stakes on Nov. 25. Steve Asmussen trains this one and he has saddled the winner of this event six times.

The Remington Springboard Mile field also includes My Buddy Mel, Rhino Runner, and Third Street.
