Honeybee Stakes 2024 Picks

The road to Kentucky Oaks 2024 continues at Oaklawn on Saturday, February 24, and I have included Honeybee Stakes 2024 picks below. The Grade 3 event for 3-year-old fillies has a $400,000 purse and the ten entrants will be journeying 1 1/16 miles on the main track. The Honeybee is the 9th race on Feb. 24 and the top five finishers will earn Kentucky Oaks points (50-25-15-10-5). 

Honeybee Stakes 2024 Picks & Final Time Ratings

Band of Gold elevated her game in the slop at 24-1 odds in the Martha Washington on Feb. 3. West Omaha finished far in front of her in the Untapable Stakes, and I do not fully trust her to run two alike at less than appealing odds on the win end.

West Omaha was my top pick in her last two Kentucky Oaks points races and she ran well both times. She stalked the pace and was clearly second best in the Untapable Stakes on Dec. 23, and chased outside and kicked clear in the Silverbulletday on Jan. 20. She scratched out of last weekend’s Rachel Alexandra (G2) and looks like a strong tactical contender in this event for Brad Cox. 

Midshipman’s Dance captured both dirt sprints including the local Mockingbird Stakes on Jan. 13. She improved her speed rating last time and stretches out after two sprints. 

The Honeybee field also includes Alcibiades (G1) show finisher Alys Beach, Honor Cat, Martha Washington show finisher Neom Beach, Edistrudis, maiden Lemon Muffin, Tapit Jenallie, and In Just My Heels.
