Gulfstream Park Oaks 2024 Picks

The road to Kentucky Oaks 2024 continues at Gulfstream Park on Saturday, March 30, and I have included Gulfstream Park Oaks 2024 picks below. The Grade 2 event for 3-year-old fillies has a $2500,000 purse and the nine entrants will be journeying 1 1/16 miles on the main track. The Gulfstream Park Oaks is the 11th race on March 30 and the top five finishers will earn Kentucky Oaks points (100-50-25-15-10). 

Gulfstream Park Oaks 2024 Picks & Final Time Rating

Power Squeeze won her last three starts. She graduated in an off the turf route at Delaware last fall. In a pair of stakes starts this year, she stalked and easily captured the local Cash Run on Jan. 1 (one-turn mile), and stretched back out and overcame a slow pace to win the Suncoast at Tampa Bay on Feb. 10. She should save ground behind the speed and could easily score again. 

Ways and Means is the wildcard for Chad Brown. She was outstanding as the favorite in her Saratoga bow last summer, and was a troubled second in the Grade 1 Spinaway second time out. She was injured in the latter race and went to the sidelines for half a year. She shows seven works for this including a pair of bullets. She has the raw talent to win this and Chad Brown is a fine layoff trainer, but this is obviously a big ask. 

Into Champagne is probably the one Davona Dale runner I would consider backing in this spot. She romped as the favorite her 5 1/2 furlong bow at Ellis Park last June, and won the local Glitter Woman in the slop as the favorite on Jan. 1. She was 4-1 in the Davona Dale and stalked slow splits and missed by a half-length. The $300k Into Mischief filly drilled a five panel bullet for this on March 22, and a stalking trip is anticipated.  

Gun Song added blinkers and lasix and earned much improved numbers in her last pair. She battled with Leslie’s Rose through slow splits on Jan. 11, and was beaten a length and ended up more than seven lengths in front of the show finisher. She cruised in a one-turn mile in the optional-claiming ranks on Feb. 9. She loses lasix in this spot and should be part of the pace. 

The Gulfstream Park Oaks field also includes Do Gooder, Neom City, America’s Vow, Grade 2 Davona Dale winner Fiona’s Magic, and Scalable.
