The road to Kentucky Oaks 2024 continues at Aqueduct on Saturday, March 2, and I have included Busher Stakes 2024 picks below. The non-graded event for 3-year-old fillies has a $200,000 purse and the seven entrants will be journeying one mile on the main track. The Busher is the 7th race on March 2 and the top five finishers will earn Kentucky Oaks points (50-25-15-10-5).Â
Busher Stakes 2024 Picks & Odds
Regulatory Risk raced wide and was unplaced as the beaten favorite in her Churchill sprint bow in September. She pressed the pace and landed the place behind a runaway winner in an extended sprint second time out. She added blinkers and wired the field in the local mud at one mile on Dec. 30, and clear runner-up Value Area was a next-out winner.
Gin Gin stalked and scored by a length in the Busanda at 1 1/8 miles in the mud on Jan. 13. She wired the field in her extended sprint maiden win, and I can see her working out an inner tactical trip under Trevor McCarthy.Â
Jody’s Pride romped by many lengths in a race originally scheduled for turf and run at 5 1/2 furlongs on dirt in her Saratoga bow, and won another race moved to the main track in the Matron Stakes second time out. She was 17-1 in the Grade 1 BC Juvenile Fillies last fall, and she stalked the pace and missed by a neck. This is a good spot for the American Pharaoh filly, and she projects a stalking trip.
The Busher field also includes Sicilian Princess, Princess Mayfair, Aoife’s Magic, and Carmelina.
