Princip: Sharp Runner Who Knows How To Win In the Right Spot

Five year old gelding for Mark Glatt tried a very “salty” 1st allowance condition on Saturday at six and a half on the main for older runners. Off at 8/1 in a field of 7 under Mike Smith, he broke OK and sat in fifth down the back side four back of the leaders on the fence. He stayed there until the 1/8 pole, then swung out for racing room and closed steadily in the final furlong to get up for second. By this time the heavy odds on favorite was long gone with a perfect trip from the outside. Princip was beaten five at the wire in very fast time for the level in 1:15.30 and it was three back to the third horse. This gelding may not be quite good enough to win this condition, but they have lots of options with this one and he knows how to win, having won 4 of 12 starts. The Glatt barn is winning at about a 28% clip these days so look for him to spot this sharp runner in a winning spot in the near future.
