Davona Dale Stakes 2024 Picks

The road to Kentucky Oaks 2024 continues at Gulfstream Park on Saturday, March 2, and I have included Davona Dale Stakes 2024 picks below. The Grade 2 event for 3-year-old fillies has a $200,000 purse and the eight entrants will be journeying one mile on the main track. The Davona Dale is the 9th race on March 2 and the top five finishers will earn Kentucky Oaks points (50-25-15-10-5).

Leslie’s Rose ran away and hid at 9-2 odds in her sprint debut at the Big A last fall. She was the strong favorite in a local extended sprint on a good track on Jan. 11, and she pressed the pace and beat next-out winner Gun Song by a length in a slow early/fast late event. They paid more than a million bucks for this daughter of Into Mischief, and Todd Pletcher’s filly should be forwardly placed under Irad Ortiz.

Just F Y I won all three starts last year. She captured the Frizette (G1) second time out, and clinched the 2-year-old title with a prominent throughout victory from post 12 in the BC Juvenile Fillies (G1). She shows six works for this including a pair of bullets and should work out a comfortable stalking trip. 

Whocouldaskformo is slowly improving for Shug McGaughey. She was a clear third in her extended sprint bow, and stretched out and romped as the strong favorite at Tampa Bay second time out. She got no pace help in the Suncoast and ran on late for the place. The $450k Uncle Mo filly will try to get involved in the lane. Jose Ortiz has been winning races with this barn recently. 

Into Champagne stalked and romped in her 5 1/2 furlong debut at Ellis Park last summer. She was the favorite in her Glitter Woman return in the slop on Jan. 7, and she stalked the pace from the inside post and beat next-out winner Launch by a length and a quarter. She figures to stalk the pace from the outside post. 

The Davona Dale field also includes Miss Sayely, Forward Gal (G3) runner-up Fiona’s Magic, Cash Run runner-up Queen’s Martini, and New Diamond.
