Del Mar’s Bing Crosby Season continues on Saturday, Nov. 11 and this post will feature Kathryn Crosby Stakes picks. The $75,000 event for fillies and mares traveling one mile on the turf course is the 7th race on Nov. 11.Â
Kathryn Crosby Stakes Final Time Ratings
The early pace of this race should come from Ganadora, Free and Humble, and Lucky for You. Linda’s Gift figures to save ground stalking the pace, and Very Scary should be with her. Turnerloose figures to work out a midpack trip, and Nadette (FR), Dolce Zel (FR), and Yerwanthere (IRE) do their best running in the late going.
Dolce Zel makes her first start since December 2022 and Phil D’Amato is her now trainer. She won two graded turf routes as a sophomore last year and should be heard from late under Flavien Prat. She earned competitive Today’s Racing Digest Final Time Ratings on multiple occasions last year.
Turnerloose cuts back two furlongs after facing tougher graded foes in her last four starts. She likes this flat mile distance and Antonio Fresu chose her over Yerwanthere. She probably wins this if she runs back to her Grade 2 John C. Mabee runner-up finish, which netted her a 141 Final Rating.
Nadette dropped out of the graded ranks and rallied from the back of the pack to miss by a head as the favorite in the Golden Poppy on April 29. This is her first start in more than six months and she will try to get involved late. She is probably the best finisher in this race.
Yerwanthere was visually impressive in her optional claiming victory on Oct. 28. She sat back, swung wide in the lane, and ran past them all while geared down at the end. She steps up in class and gets the services of Umberto Rispoli.
