Del Mar’s Bing Crosby Season continues on Friday, December 1 and I have included opening race free picks at Del Mar 2023 below. The maiden special weight event for fillies and mares has a $61,000 purse and the seven entrants will be dashing six panels on the main track.
Del Mar Race 1 Picks & Final Time Ratings
Dancing Mo breaks from the inside post and she needs to improve in her second start after a layoff. She missed by a head in a maiden optional-claiming heat at Santa Anita in June.
Make It Snow hit the board in all five special weight tries and none of those races were on dirt. Profitable sprint rider Antonio Fresu climbs aboard the $185k Empire Maker filly and she turns back in her third start after a layoff.
Sultry Kitten is a $150k American Pharoah filly making her fourth career start for Phil D’Amato. She landed the show in her bow and misfired in her last three outings.
Monique turns back and switches surfaces in her second start after a layoff. She was a distant runner-up in her lone dirt sprint attempt.
Side by Side is 0-for-14 with six minor placings. She hit the board in her last three special weight dirt sprints and will probably finish 2nd or 3rd.
Llorona is a $750k daughter of Mendelssohn and her dam Wasted Tears was a multiple graded winner, and she has produced six winners from as many starters (1 stakes winner). Flavien Prat riding signals intent and she fired a couple of bullets in September. She sure looks live in a less than stellar affair.
Cute Khloe rounds out the field and she exits an okay show finish in a turf sprint. She is winless in eight starts.
Free Picks at Del Mar 2023
The first race at Del Mar on December 1 is the eleventh race in my Horse of the Day video series. My top choices have three wins and a trio of runner-up finishes. I will cover one race each day during the 13-day Del Mar Bing Crosby Season, and the bulk of my videos will include stakes action. Check out my opening race free pick video below.
