Del Mar’s Bing Crosby Season continues on Saturday, Nov. 18, and this post will feature Cary Grant Stakes picks. The $100,000 event for California-bred or sired 3-year-olds and up traveling seven panels on the main track is the 8th race on Nov. 18. 

Cary Grant Stakes Analysis & Final Time Ratings

Principe Carlo is the inside speed under Kyle Frey. He fits with these on his best day but he has not run a quality race since May 2022. 

Trip to Spain exits a close show finish in a $32k claiming sprint at Golden Gate. This is his first start as a gelding and he should be forwardly placed but seems up against it. 

None Above the Law has not won a race since the 2021 Del Mar Derby. Peter Miller’s late runner gets the services of Flavien Prat and might be in the mix for a minor award. 

Lovesick Blues completed the trifecta in his last two starts. He steps up in class and can hit the board if he runs back to his runner-up finish in the Bertrando Stakes at Los Al on June 23. 

Fast Draw Munnings has scratched, so we will move on to Big City Lights. Richard Mandella’s colt landed the place behind The Chosen Vron in his last three state bred stakes starts. This is his first start in more than ten months and he might be the one to catch under his regular pilot Juan Hernandez. He fired exacta shots in all six outings and is proven fresh. He might be able to turn the tables on The Chosen Vron. The latter is wheeling back in two weeks after finishing a flat 5th of 8 in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Sprint. That race was clearly his main goal and there is no way he comes back in two weeks if he wins that one. He won eight straight prior to his last and is obviously a low odds win contender.

Moose Mitchell captured four of his last six starts. He is 0-for-2 at seven panels and needs to elevate his game in this tougher spot. 

Desmond Doss rounds out the field. He won a pair of state bred stakes races in 2022 but has dropped seven straight and needs to rediscover top form to threaten this group.
