Pony Express: This Half Million Dollar Son of Gun Runner Should Have Not Trouble in 1st ALW

Three year old colt for John Sadler made the 3rd start of his career and 2nd at a route on Saturday in a maiden special weight at a mile and a sixteenth on the main. Off at 8/1 in a field of 8, he took advantage of his rail post and went right for the lead under Rispoli. In a field with not much speed, he secured the lead into and out of the clubhouse turn with a first quarter in 22.83. He opened up two at the half mile, had three on the field at the ¼ pole, and nobody was coming, so he strolled on home to win by 8 while geared down. The main track was favoring speed on Saturday which certainly helped his cause, but he still had some nice horses behind him. They paid a half million for this son of Gun Runner at the Keeneland yearling sale so he was cut out to be a runner. He should have no trouble with the first allowance condition down at Del Mar.
