Watsonville: Might Have Been Best After Rough Trip

Three year old colt for Mark Glatt made start #2 on Saturday in a maiden special weight event at six and a half on the turf (from the chute) for 3 and up. Off at 7/2 in a field of 8, he had a pretty rough trip getting bumped around at the start and then having to take up sharply just after the break. He was five lengths back of the leaders by the half mile pole, but the leading rider kept him to his task, and he rallied nicely for second beaten two at the wire. He might very well have been best today. This horse is bred top and bottom for the turf and has two turns written all over him as well. Glatt has plenty of options with him for his next start, which will probably be at Del Mar in July. This $240,000 purchase as a two year old is a soon winner for a barn having an outstanding meet here at Santa Anita.
