Vronsky Feint: 30/1 Experienced Router Clears Field by 10 Lengths in first Sprint | Upcoming Race:Del Mar July 26, 2024

Five year old mare for Ed Moger, who had run in 12 consecutive route races, tried a sprint on Friday and it paid off handsomely at 30/1. With Tiago Pereira in the irons in this first allowance condition for Cal breds at ¾ on the turf, she settled in nicely down the back side just 3 lengths off the leaders. Pereira kept her on the fence turning for home, found a seam along the rail at the 1/8 pole, and gradually wore down the odds on favorite to win by ¾ for the upset victory. The gallop out was something to see as she was 10 lengths clear of the field in very short order. Because she was in for the optional claim price of $20,000, she is still eligible for the first condition for Cal breds. Look for Moger to take advantage of that situation before the end of the meet.
