Vancougar: Exploded at the 1/8 Pole and Won Going Away by One at the Wire

Four year old gelding for Jeff Mullins made start #2 this year and the 4th start of his career in Sunday’s opener, a maiden special weight event for 3,4, and 5 year olds at ¾ on the turf. Off at 5/1 after getting heavy play right from the start, he broke OK under Vasquez and sat 4th early on just 3 lengths off the pace. He went after the leaders on his own at the ¼ pole and when the jock asked him to run at the 1/8 pole, he exploded past the leaders and won going away by one at the wire. This Kentucky bred is bred for two turns as well and has lots of options for the Mullins barn who has been red hot all meet with turf runners. Up the ladder.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Vancougar was cabable of.  We expected that if Vancougar gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Vancougar performance figures.  Use the performance figures earned in Vancougar last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Vancougar next start.  If Vancougar appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble  as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Vancougar will dominate the race.
