Two by Four: Rallied Strongly From 7th at 1/2 Mile But Missed By a Nose

Thee year old colt for Craig Lewis made his debut in Sunday’s 6th, a maiden special weight event for Cal bred sophomores at ¾ on the main. Off at 13/1 in a field of 9, he broke OK under Prat, then was shuffled back while 7 wide early. Prat hustled him over to the fence by the half mile pole, but he was still 7 lengths back of the leaders with 6 horses in front of him. Prat found a seam at the top of the lane, then dove to the fence at the 1/8 pole, rallied strongly, and just missed by a nose at the wire to the favorite. It was a strong effort for this son of the popular California sire Clubhouse Ride, and this one is a soon winner for a barn that does much better with 2nd time starters.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Two by Four was cabable of.  We expected that if Two by Four gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Two by Four performance figures.  Use the performance figures earned in Two by Four last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Two by Four next start.  If Two by Four appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble  as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Two by Four will dominate the race.
