The Rabbi: Working for stamina and had impressive finish after poor start

Three year old colt for Ron Ellis made his debut on Sunday in the 1st in a maiden special weight event at ¾ on the lawn for 3 and up. Off at 41/1 in a field of 9, he broke very slowly and spotted the field 12 right off the bat. Ayuso got him over to the fence and he started making up ground at the 3/8 pole, swung four wide into the stretch, then finished like a locomotive out in the middle of the course, and won by two going away at the wire. It’s not often we put a 40/1 shot on top in our sheet, but his works were for stamina and in spite of the poor start, he was most impressive the last five furlongs of this race. He’s bred to go long and looks like a horse with a future. They paid $325K for this son of Hard Spun at the Ocala two year old sale. He’s in good hands with Ellis. Up the ladder. P.S. We also had the 2nd and 3rd horse in the exact finish in this race and the $1 trifecta came back at $2342.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe The Rabbi was cabable of.  We expected that if The Rabbi gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in The Rabbi performance figures.  Use the performance figures earned in The Rabbi last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of The Rabbi next start.  If The Rabbi appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble  as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that The Rabbi will dominate the race.

Helpful Tip:  So that it’s easy for you to compare a horse’s past performance, Today’s Racing Digest’s Performance Figures for upcoming races are based on how we expect the horse to perform in that race regardless of any changes in race conditions.  Learn More:
