Sassy Nature: Daughter of Straight Fire won by 8 While Hand Ridden the Final Furlong

Newly turned three year old filly for Luis Mendez made start #2 on Saturday in a maiden special weight Cal Bred event at ¾ on the main. Bet down late to 2/1 and the 2nd choice in the wagering, she zipped right to the front in this field, even with the blinkers off, and quickly opened up two by the half mile pole. She extended that lead to three by the ¼ pole through quick fractions of 22.00 and 44.85 for the half, then shut the door on the field with a quick 24.60 final quarter. She went on to win by 8, hand ridden the final furlong. This daughter of Straight Fire is a runner
