Pretty Layla: Bred Top and Bottom For The Turf

Two year old filly for Mick Ruis made start #2 on Saturday in a maiden special weight event at a mile on the turf. Off at 5/1 in a full field of 10, she broke well under Ricky Gonzalez and was sixth into and out of the clubhouse turn. The jock kept her on the fence and saved ground throughout. She found a nice seam in the lane when the leader drifted out and looked like a winner at the 1/16 pole. But J.J. had the winner rolling way out in the middle of the course and she got up to beat “Layla” by a neck at the wire. It was a tough loss and Layla never saw the winner as she was 6 or 7 wide coming down the lane. Being by Uncle Mo out of a Scat Daddy mare, this one is bred top and bottom for the turf. She will get another shot before the end of the meet and this one has the talent to be a soon winner. In fact a race for her comes up on Friday, Sept. 8th.
