Panic Alarm (IRE): Watch For Him If Entered In Del Mar Derby

Three year old gelding for John Sadler made his U.S. debut in the Grade 3 La Jolla Handicap for sophomores at a mile and a sixteenth on the lawn on Sunday. Off at 6/1 in a field of 8, he was covered up early by Rispoli and sat 7 lengths off the pace into and out of the clubhouse turn. He stayed in that position until the ¼ pole when the jock shifted out and asked him for run. He got to the outside by the 1/8 pole and put in a good strong run to finish 2nd, in spite of the slow, crawling fractions of the race. He was beaten one length at the wire by the favorite who got a dream trip through on the fence. This race sets him up nicely for the Del Mar Derby on closing weekend. He will be tough in that race and should be a bit of a price as well.
