Matanzas Creek: Very Smart Final Quarter To Win by 3

Three year old colt for Tim Yakteen made start #2 on Sunday in a maiden special weight at ¾ on the main. Off at 6/1 in a field of five, he made every pole a winning one opening up two down the back side through soft fractions of 22.70 for the ¼ and then 45.69 for the half. He had three on the field by the 1/8 pole, then shut the door on his competitors with a very smart 23.40 final quarter to win by three at the wire. This one has a bright future and being by Empire Maker, two turns is well within his scope. Up the ladder for this $75,000 yearling purchase.
