Llorona: Had Numerous Minor Ailments and Should Improve

Three year old filly debut runner for Richard Mandella finally got her 1st start on Friday in a maiden special weight for fillies and mares 3 and up at ¾ on the main. Off as the heavy 2 to 5 choice in a field of 7 under Prat, she broke running from the 6 hole and contested the early pace from the outside. She cleared on the turned and was guided home to a six length victory while geared down the final sixteenth. Mandella has always been high on this daughter of Mendelssohn, but she has had numerous minor ailments that have prevented her from getting to the gate. She had excellent drills coming into her debut and won like a filly with a bright future.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Llorona was cabable of.  We expected that if Llorona gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Llorona performance figures.  Use the performance figures earned in Llorona last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Llorona next start.  If Llorona appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble  as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Llorona will dominate the race.
