Legislator: Finished First But DQ’d After Knocking 2 Off Balance | Upcoming Race:Santa Anita April 27, 2024

Three year old gelding for Peter Miller, though still a maiden, tried winners on Sunday in a 1st allowance condition at a mile on the turf. Off at 10/1 in a full field of 12, he relaxed early under Tiago Pereira and was a good 10 lengths back of the leaders down the back side. The jock kept him on the fence and he was loaded at the ¼ pole just looking for a seam to break through. One narrowly opened just before the top of the stretch and he burst his way through, knocking two horses completely off balance and taking their paths away from them. He righted himself and went on to win the race by two at the wire. However, he was rightly disqualified and placed sixth for the interference. This horse is still a maiden, and not only is he good enough to win a maiden race, he is good enough to win this allowance condition as well. Look for Miller to find a race for him before the end of the meet in either spot.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Legislator was cabable of.  We expected that if Legislator gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Legislator performance figures.  Use the performance figures earned in Legislator last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Legislator next start.  If Legislator appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble  as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Legislator will dominate the race.

Helpful Tip:  So that it’s easy for you to compare a horse’s past performance, Today’s Racing Digest’s Performance Figures for upcoming races are based on how we expect the horse to perform in that race regardless of any changes in race conditions.  Learn More:
