Kitzkaty: Good Enough To Break Maiden With Cal Breds and Clean Trip

A brutal trip for this two year old filly for Doug O’Neill in Friday’s third, a maiden special weight event at a mile on the turf for Cal breds. Off at 5/2 and bet down from a M/L of 6/1, she broke OK under hot riding Fresu from the inside, but then checked into the clubhouse turn when running up on a horse’s heels. She settled in 6th down the back side about six lengths off the pace. Fresu kept her on the fence throughout, tried to find a hole at the top of the lane, but nothing opened up. She never got a chance to run the entire length of the stretch and she idled in tight quarters all the way. This daughter of win early sire Sir Prancealot is good enough to break her maidens with Cal breds and just needs a little luck, along with a clean trip. This was just her 2nd start.
