Hayley Amber: Soon winner if stays with Cal Bred

Three year old filly for Cesar DeAlba, who had not been to the post since last summer at Del Mar, made her 2024 debut in Saturday’s opener at ¾ on the green for Cal bred maiden soph fillies. Off at 13/1 in a full field of 12, she came out running under Baze and got the lead by the half mile pole. She had a length on the field at the ¼ pole, but then was quickly accompanied by two other runners at the top of the lane. She dug in gamely down the stretch from the inside and didn’t give it up until the final strides. She finished third beaten ¾. This was her 1st time with Lasix and she trained well over at Los Al for this race. She is out of top Cal bred sire Mr. Big and as long as they keep her with Cal breds, she’s a soon winner to get her diploma for a barn that does very well with turf runners.
