Dashingly: This Kentucky bred daughter of Liam’s Map will be tighter in start #2

Three year old filly for John Shirreffs made her debut in Thursday’s opener, a six and a half furlong dash on the green out of the chute for soph fillies. Off at 14/1 in a field of 10, she made the running from the get go under the veteran Smith and got the lead by the half mile pole under moderate fractions of 23.50 and 46.70 for the half. However, she was hounded every step of the way by a filly on her outside and she never did get a breather. She hung in there gamely until the 1/16 pole, then gave it up grudgingly late to run third, beaten one and a half at the wire. This Kentucky bred daughter of Liam’s Map will be much tighter for start #2 and should be well meant. Shirreffs seldom wins first out but his 2nd time starters do much better.
