Big City Lights: Can Run Short or Long and Should Find Winning Spot Soon

Four year old colt for Richard Mandella made his 1st start in 10 months in the Cal bred Cary Grant stakes at 7/8 on the main Saturday. Off as the 5/2 second choice in a field of just five, due to three late scratches, he went to his knees at the start and pretty lost all chance of ever catching the great The Chosen Vron. He figured to be part of the pace and instead was dead last down the back side four off the leaders. He put in a good run at the ¼ pole to reach contention but the bad start cost him and he couldn’t get much closer to “Vron”, who went on to win by three at the wire. Big City was second and it was another three back to the third horse. This was just his 7th career start and he has never been worse than second. He can run short or long and look for the crafty Mandella to find a winning spot for him up at Arcadia. This son of Mr. Big is all race horse.
