Alcibiades Stakes Analysis (Top 4 selections)

#6 Quickick (4-1) was 4-1 in her extended sprint bow at Saratoga and she rallied from far back to finish a clear third. La Cara wired the field in that race and clicked right back in the Grade 3 Pocahontas. This one added blinkers in another extended sprint at Saratoga on Sept. 1, and she stalked the pace from the inside post and edged away to graduate by 2 1/2 lengths. They paid $550k for this McKinzie filly and her stakes-winning dam has produced 10 winners from 11 starts (3 stakes winners). Tom Amoss has good stats with shippers and her winning rider Dylan Davis is enjoying a fine year.

#7 Quietside (5-2) stalked and romped in her dirt sprint bow at Saratoga. She was the favorite in the Grade 1 Spinaway on Aug. 31 and she stalked from post 11, opened up a clear lead, and was clearly second best behind #8 Immersive (2-1). The latter is 2-for-2 for Brad Cox. The Godolphin filly stalked and scored both times under Manny Franco and she drilled a Churchill bullet for this on Sept. 20.

#3 Liam in the Dust (10-1) dueled and edged clear in her seven panel bow at Ellis Park on Aug. 11. She was 9-1 in the Pocahontas (G3) on Sept. 14 and she battled on the pace from post 14, got clear, and just held the place behind closing winner La Cara. Flavien Prat is her new rider and she should attend the pace.
