Criticism: Look for D’Amato to Find a Winning Spot at Del Mar

Three year old filly for Phil D’Amato tried the turf once again in Monday’s opener, in a maiden special weight event at six and a half out of the chute. Unfortunate to draw the 11 hole in a field of 11 and that quick left hand turn, she understandably had a wide trip. She was in 7th down the back side six back of the leaders, made a good run to get in contention at the ¼ pole, was six wide into the lane, and finished with good courage to grab 2nd, beaten just ¾ at the wire. This was her 6th overall start but just her 2nd on the grass. She looks like a filly that can run long and either way, she should be able to get her diploma in the very near future, probably at Del Mar. Look for D’Amato to find a winning spot.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Criticism was cabable of.  We expected that if Criticism gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Criticism performance figures.  Use the performance figures earned in Criticism last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Criticism next start.  If Criticism appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble  as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Criticism will dominate the race.
