Issa Court: Caught 4 Wide at Clubhouse Turn Should Be Live Next Time Out

Lightly raced six year old mare for Dean Pederson was back in for a mile against older runners in a first condition Cal bred allowance group on the main track. Off as the second choice in the wagering at 5/2 in a field of 6 and in for the claiming tag of $20K, she broke running from the six hole under Rispoli but got caught four wide into the clubhouse turn. She used her tactical speed to get up to second down the back side just one length off the leader. She went to the lead on her own at the 3/8 pole, opened up two at the top of the lane, looked like she was home at the 1/8 pole, then tired a bit late and got caught right on the wire. This mare likes to win and she can handle turf or dirt. She goes to Hess Jr. off the claim and she should be “live” in her next start.
