North East Star (IRE): Closed In Lane For 3rd After Being 15 Back Early

Three year old filly for Phil D’Amato made her U.S. debut and 2nd start of her career in Sunday’s opener. Off at 11/1 in a 9 horse field in this maiden special weight event for soph fillies at ¾ on the turf, she broke extremely slow from the rail and got 15 lengths back of the leaders. The bug boy Alsagoor, was patient with her early and she finally started to pick up horses at the 3/8 pole. She was floated out five wide turning for home, then put in a good run out in the middle of the course to nail down third. She was beaten four at the wire by the two front runners in the race. She was the only one closing in the lane and that was after being 15 back early. D’Amato has done very well with these Irish breds and she should have no trouble getting her diploma in the near future. Plus she looks like a filly that wants to go long as well.
