Conquest Celsius: Stumbled Badley At The Start And Lost All Chances

Two year old filly for Luis Mendez made her debut on Saturday in the first two year old race of the year at Santa Anita. Bet down late to the 4/5 favorite in a field of just five, she stumbled badly at the start, went to her knees, but Maldonado hung on. The stumble cost her a good four lengths and then she was rushed up on the outside to try and get back in the race. She got up to third, then got floated out four wide turning into the stretch, and Edwin wrapped up on her at the 1/8 pole. She was a well beaten 4th and really lost all chance at the start. She had worked well coming into the race for Mendez, who is brilliant with these babies. Give her another chance next time to the post.
