Dillinger: Improving and May Enjoy Routes

Three year old colt for Bob Baffert made start #2 on Saturday at ¾ on the main for three year olds in a maiden special weight event. Off as the 3/5 choice in a field of six, he ended up being on the rail when that horse was scratched, and he didn’t have the best of trips under J.J. He was in tight down the back side just 3 lengths off the pace and the jock never could get him out until the ¼ pole. Then he ran on very well but couldn’t quite catch his stable mate who wired the field. I do believe he was best today. This one is bred to go long (Into Mischief out of a Medaglia d’Oro mare) and I wouldn’t be surprised if Baffert stretches him out next. He’s a soon winner.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Dillinger was cabable of.  We expected that if Dillinger gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Dillinger performance figures.  Use the performance figures earned in Dillinger last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Dillinger next start.  If Dillinger appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble  as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Dillinger will dominate the race.
