Seize the Grey took control of the race right out of the gate and was never seriously challenged in a sharp victory in the 149th running of the Preakness Stakes. He won by 2 1/4 lengths over Kentucky Derby winner Mystik Dan, with Catching Freedom another head back in third.
D. Wayne Lukas won his seventh Preakness, and it was the first Preakness win for 25-year-old rider Jaime Torres. The MyRacehorse colt stopped the clock in 1:56.82 and paid $21.60 to win.
Preakness Stakes final order of finish: 1st – Seize the Grey, 2nd – Mystik Dan, 3rd – Catching Freedom, 4th – Tuscan Gold, 5th – Just Steel, 6th – Uncle Heavy, 7th – Imagination, 8th – Mugatu.
Morning line favorite Muth scratched.
