Expected Final Time Rating (FNLRAT) in the new Race Headers Picks the Woodbine Pick 4 for $1,888.90 in the first edition published

Today's Racing Digest's published it's new Race Sheet Headers in the Woodbine edition for the first time on October 26, 2024 and it's paid out with dividends for our customers with a $1,888.90 Pick 4 in races 7-10.  We knew the Final Time Rating was good and our own handicappers use it religiously but we've never spent much time promoting it.

With the new Race Sheet Headers we've tried to further simplify the handicapping process by only showing you the most relevant figures to help quickly narrow down the field to a few top contenders.  We've added the Final Time Rating to the new Race Sheet Headers while also expanding the depth of use of the Final Time Ratings.

In the new Race Sheet Headers, in column 6, you get the expected Final Time Rating each horse should run in the day's race which gives you an idea of how strong a horse is expected to perform in the upcoming race relative to the rest of the field.  In column 14, you will see the Final Time Rating the horse earned in it's last race (LFNLRAT).  By comparing the LFNLRAT to the expected Final Time Rating you can determine if the horse is expected to improve in today's race and by how much.  If a large improvement is expected you can further investigate as to why by looking for any changes in race class or conditions along with trainer stats and workouts.

To help determine how classy a horse is you will see, in column 15, the Best Final Time Rating (BFNLRAT) each horse has ever earned in their lifetime.  This gives you an idea of a horse's potential compared to the rest of the field.  You will also see the Best Final Time Rating for today's race surface (BSTSUR) and Best Final Time Rating earned at today's race distance so you can quickly understand if a horse is proven in today's race conditions.  These can be found in columns 16 and 17 in the Race Sheet Headers.

To get further information about the Final Time Rating you can look at each of the horse's past performances and in the 2nd to last column you will see the Final Time Rating they earned in each race.
