Del Mar Debutante 2024 Picks & Wagers

The Grade 1, $300,000 Del Mar Debutante will be run at Del Mar on Saturday, September 7, 2024. The seven juvenile filly entrants will travel seven furlongs on the main track and Nooni is the 4-5 morning line favorite. The Del Mar Debutante goes as the fourth race with a scheduled post time of 6:00 p.m. EDT.

De Mar Debutante Analysis

Nooni got loose early and romped by 9 1/2 lengths in her Santa Anita bow at 20 cents on the dollar on June 13, and wired three rivals from the inside post as the 1-2 choice in the local Sorrento (G3) at six panels on Aug. 10. She is an obvious win contender for the recently hot Juan Hernandez/Bob Baffert team.

Vodka With a Twist went all the way in the slop second time out at Churchill Downs. She moved to the Phil D’Amato barn and wired the field in the Debutante, and stalked the pace and was clearly second best behind Nooni in the Sorrento (G3) last time. She has worked twice at Del Mar since her last including a half-mile bullet on Aug. 24. She might sit the right stalking trip.

Tenma was 6-1 in her local bow and she rallied win that 5 1/2 furlong affair by a neck. Bob Baffert’s $850k Nyquist filly figures to enjoy the added ground of this race and should get pace to chase.
