Thorpedo Anna was on her toes and ready to roll in the 2024 Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs on Friday, May 3. She earned quality Today’s Racing Digest Performance Ratings in the Grade 2 Fantasy Stakes on March 30 and was better than her rivals on Friday.
The track was sloppy and sealed, and Thorpedo Anna was full of run early under Brian Hernandez Jr. She put away early pace rival Fiona’s Magic, turned away a fresh challenge from Ways and Means, and would not let juvenile champ Just F Y I get close in the stretch. She won by 4 3/4 lengths and paid $10.98 to win.
Just F Y I was clearly second best and 29-1 longshot Regulatory Risk got up for the show over her tiring stablemate Ways and Means. Everland, Power Squeeze, Into Champagne, Lemon Muffin, Tarifa, Where’s My Ring, Our Pretty Woman, Gin Gin, Leslie’s Rose, and Fiona’s Magic also ran. The final time was 1:50.83.
