Zalamo (FR): Bottled Up But Finding Seam at Top Of Lane Finishing Like Freight Train

Five year old gelding for Len Powell tried a starter allowance race for non winners of three on Wednesday at a mile on the turf. Off as the 5/2 second choice in a field of 9, he broke slowly under Flavien Prat and was 8th into the clubhouse turn 7 back of the leaders. Prat kept him on the fence down the back side and was still there looking for a seam at the top of the stretch. He was bottled up with nowhere to run for a short bit, finally found a seam and finished like a freight train out in the middle of the course to nail down second, but the favorite got the jump on him and that was that. Zalamo was beaten one at the wire with a strong gallop out. He’ll get them next time, especially if Prat rides him back at this level.
