Yellow Brick: Strong Performance For Potential Stakes Horse For Strong Barn

Four year old colt for Richard Mandella tried the first allowance condition on Saturday at a mile and a sixteenth on the main for older runners. Bet down to the 6/5 choice in a field of 9, he sat in fifth down the back side under Kimura and had a pretty good trip throughout. He was loaded entering the stretch and when the jock got him to the outside, he took dead aim at the leaders and looked like he was going to get the job done. But a Baffert runner ahead of him got 1st run and he was loaded as well, and though “Brick” put in a good run out in the middle of the track, he couldn’t catch him. He was beaten two at the wire and it was another six back to the third horse. It was a strong performance and this son the great Quality Road should have no trouble knocking out this condition and even looks like a stakes horse for this Hall of Fame barn. His next race will be his 3rd off a layoff of 7 months and he is set for a huge effort.
