Window Shopping: Lots of Talent and Could Have Placed Here

Three year old filly for Richard Mandella tried the Grade 2 Santa Anita Oaks in just her 3rd career start on Saturday. Coming off an impressive 16 length win in breaking her maiden, she was sent off at 5/1 in a field of 8 in this mile and a sixteenth race for soph fillies. She broke slow from the gate under new rider Hector Berrios and was well back of the leaders down the back side. She started to move up just past the half mile pole, when on the rail the early leader backed up into her, forcing her to check badly and lose her momentum. Yet she still rallied late down the stretch and finished third beaten 7 at the wire, but was only a half length away from 2nd. She wasn’t going to beat the winner, Faiza, who was winning her 5th straight, but she would have easily run 2nd today. She still has the first allowance condition available and this daughter of Triple Crown winner American Pharoah has loads of talent. Look for Mandella to find a winning spot for her next time out.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Window Shopping was cabable of.  We expected that if Window Shopping gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Window Shopping performance figures.  Use the performance figures earned in Window Shopping last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Window Shopping next start.  If Window Shopping appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble  as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Window Shopping will dominate the race.
