Upcharge: Can Go Short Or Long With Ability to Win For This Top Barn

Three year old filly for Phil D’Amato made her debut on Sunday in a straight maiden special weight @3/4 on the lawn, 3 and up. Off at 14/1 in a field of 11, she missed the start under Mike Smith and was easily 10 lengths back of the leaders down the back side. She was still 10 back by the ¼ pole, but then moved up inside horses at the top of the lane, swung outside for room at the 1/8 pole, and finished with good courage down the lane to be beaten just one at the wire while finishing third. It was a strong performance considering the start and she galloped out well to boot. She trained well coming into the race and she can go short or long. She has ability and is a soon winner for the top turf barn on the circuit, but she won’t be 14/1 next time.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Upcharge was cabable of.  We expected that if Upcharge gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Upcharge performance figures.  Use the performance figures earned in Upcharge last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Upcharge next start.  If Upcharge appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble  as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Upcharge will dominate the race.

Helpful Tip:  So that it’s easy for you to compare a horse’s past performance, Today’s Racing Digest’s Performance Figures for upcoming races are based on how we expect the horse to perform in that race regardless of any changes in race conditions.  Learn More:
