Thorne House: Fine Comeback Performance With Good Energy at Finish

Five year old gelding for Dean Pederson, who had been off for one year, tried the 1st allowance condition at ¾ on the grass 3 and up on Monday. Off at 3/1 in a field of 9, he broke OK under Tiago Pereira and sat 4th down the back side, just 3 off the leaders. He put in his run at the top of the lane and finished with good energy, but another runner got the jump on him, and his bid fell a half length short at the wire. It was a fine comeback performance for this Cal bred who has been 1st or 2nd in 7 of 8 starts. He is 2 for 3 at Del Mar and he can handle either the turf or the dirt. Look for him to knock out this condition at the seaside for the high percentage Pederson barn.
