Upcoming Race: Santa Anita January 11, 2025 Take Another Card: Strong Performance by Kentucky Derby Winner I’ll Have Another daughter

Two year old filly for Simon Callaghan made her debut in Sunday’s finale, a maiden special weight event for Cal bred fillies at ¾ on the turf. Off at 4/1 in a field 9, she missed the start completely when she dwelt in the gate and didn’t break with the field. She was instantly last, but then rushed up on the inside by Dettori and was only four lengths back of the leaders by the 3/8 pole. He swung her to the outside at the top of the lane, took over the lead at the 1/8 pole, and pulled away to win by two and a half at the wire. This was a strong performance by the Kentucky Derby winner I’ll Have Another for her daughter, considering it was her initial start. She is not especially bred for the sod but she really took to it for her debut.
