Swift Tap: Wide Throughout Trip While Track Favored the Inside

A gelding who was awful in his last two starts may have been the winner in this affair if not for a wide-throughout trip over a track that favored the inside. He did show his usual early speed as a four horse duel developed as they left the chute and he was in the five-path up the backstretch. It was then a three horse race from the middle of the turn until the wire. It appeared he would be able to grind out the win in deep stretch, but the two runners to his inside re-rallied and ‘Tap finished 3rd.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Swift Tap was cabable of.  We expected that if Swift Tap gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Swift Tap performance figures.  Use the performance figures earned in Swift Tap last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Swift Tap next start.  If Swift Tap appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble  as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Swift Tap will dominate the race.
