Supersonic Blue: Ready Rookie for His Debute Paying $17 and Change To Place

Two year old gelding for Neil Drysdale made his debut on Sunday in a maiden special weight event at 5/8 on the turf. Off at 25/1 in a field of 11, he made the running right from the get go breaking from the rail under Maldonado and contended for the lead from the inside with three across the track at the half mile pole. The leader crossed over on him at the 7/16 and he was forced to check momentarily, but Maldonado got him to the outside at the ¼ pole and he moved by two runners to contend at the head of the lane. He looked like the winner at the 1/8 pole but the leader had another gear and “Blue” was second best by a length and a half. It was two and a half back to the third horse. This son of Air Force Blue will be much tighter for start #2 and Drysdale does much better with 2nd time starters (he was 0/20 with debut runners this year). Supersonic Blue was a Ready Rookie for his debut and paid $17 and change to place. He’s a soon winner up at Arcadia on the grass.
