Spanish Cara (IRE): Look For Gallagher To Take Off Blinks and If Rispoli Rides Go To the Windows

Three year old filly for Paddy Gallagher added blinkers to her equipment for the 1st time in her five race career and it clearly backfired on Saturday. Off at 7/5 and the second choice in the wagering in this one mile turf event for fillies and mares 3 and up that are still maidens, she broke running from the two hole and found herself on the lead heading into the clubhouse turn. Rispoli backed off on her at the half mile pole and let another speedster take the lead, thus tracking her from two back. But that strategy didn’t work either as once they turned for home, “Cara” was toast and had nothing to offer in the drive. Rispoli wrapped up on her at the 1/16 pole and she finished last in this 7 horse field. This Irish bred runs best when “covered up” in the beginning of the race and that’s the way most of the turf routes are won on this course. Look for Gallagher to take the blinkers off in her next assignment and if Rispoli rides her back, go to the windows.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Spanish Cara (IRE) was cabable of.  We expected that if Spanish Cara (IRE) gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Spanish Cara (IRE) performance figures.  Use the performance figures earned in Spanish Cara (IRE) last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Spanish Cara (IRE) next start.  If Spanish Cara (IRE) appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble  as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Spanish Cara (IRE) will dominate the race.
