Soho: Quickly to Front but Lost by a Head Watch For at Del Mar

Three year old filly for John Sadler made her 2024 debut in Saturday’s third, a first allowance condition for soph fillies at ¾ on the green. Off at 2/1 in a field of just five and not having been to the post since October of last year, she came out running under Rispoli and quickly got the lead. She had 3 on the field by the half mile and still was two in front at the top of the lane. She looked home free at the 1/8 pole but tired late and got nailed right on the wire to lose by a head. She had been working lights out on the training track with five straight bullets but she still needed this race. They have high hopes for her at Del Mar with the Filly stakes program there for sophomores, so they can’t be disappointed by this effort. She’s a cinch to knock out this condition.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Soho was cabable of.  We expected that if Soho gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Soho performance figures.  Use the performance figures earned in Soho last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Soho next start.  If Soho appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble  as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Soho will dominate the race.
