Smooth Cruisein: Much the Best Beating 2 Well Meant Baffer Runners

Two year old colt for Karen Headley made his debut in a salty maiden special weight event at ¾ on the main. Off at 22/1 and the longest shot in this field of five, he tracked the leaders down the back side with moderate fractions. He started his move at the ¼ pole but was all over the track in the stretch showing his greenness. He dove to the rail at the 1/8 pole, then moved back outside at the 1/16 pole, and eventually wore down the leader very late to grab a half length decision. He was much the best and ended up beating two well meant Baffert runners and two nicely bred colts from the Mike McCarthy barn. Up the ladder for this son of the good stallion Girvin.
