Smiling Tizzy: Capable of 2 Turns and Really Took To the Grass in Debut

Three year old colt for Phil Oviedo made his debut in a “salty” maiden special weight event at ¾ on the turf Sunday. Off at a whopping 90/1 in a 9 horse field, he was void of any early speed, dropped back to last down the back side, and was a good 11 lengths back of the leaders by the half mile pole. Aguilar took him to the rail and he started to move up some at the 3/8 pole, went to the outside at the top of the lane, then came back inside the final sixteenth and finished full of run. He ended up 4th at the wire and was beaten two by the winner, however he was just a half length from getting second. He galloped out past everyone after crossing the wire. He was easy to pick out as this son of Paynter is practically all white yet he just turned three. He looks capable of getting two turns and really took to the grass in his debut. He won’t be 90/1 in his next start but he will still offer value with these connections.

Generally horses that are on the Horses To Watch list ran into unexpected trouble, bad luck, and/or didn’t run the race we believe Smiling Tizzy was cabable of.  We expected that if Smiling Tizzy gets a good trip in their next start than we should see an improvement in Smiling Tizzy performance figures.  Use the performance figures earned in Smiling Tizzy last race (listed above) and compare them to the field and pars of Smiling Tizzy next start.  If Smiling Tizzy appears to have earned higher performance figures in the last race when running into trouble  as compared to the rest of the field’s expected perfomance in the upcoming race than there is a good chance that Smiling Tizzy will dominate the race.
