Shady Tiger: Visually Impressive While Toying with this field of Cal Breds

Hard knocking three year old gelding for Phil D’Amato tried the Echo Eddie stakes on Saturday at six and a half on the main for sophomore Cal breds. Off at 3/1 in a field of 10, he broke running from the gate under J.J. and was just two off the pace down the back side. The rider swung him to the outside at the ¼ pole, contested the lead at the top of the lane, then just exploded at the 1/8 pole to win by six going away. It was a visually impressive performance as he just toyed with this field of Cal breds. This was his third win in just four starts and he is ready for “open” company. D’Amato can run him just about anywhere as Cal bred stakes winners do not count against his conditions when going up against “open” company. In California, it really does pay to own a Cal bred.
