Sassy Prancelot: Found Another Gear Late To Clear By Three

Three year old filly for Phil D’Amato, who had not been to the post since September of last year, surfaced in a maiden special weight event for Cal breds in the nite cap at six and a half on the turf. Bet down heavy late from 4/1 to 9/5 in the last 3 minutes of wagering, she broke OK from the outside in this field of 10 runners and sat 4th down the back side just 3 lengths off the pace. Fresu kept her on the outside turning for home and she showed a nice turn of foot at the ¼ pole, assumed the lead at the 1/8 pole, and still found another gear late to clear by three at the wire to win going away. This soph filly will have no trouble with the 1st Cal bred allowance condition and she may even be able to go long for D’Amato down the road. They have been very patient with her and it will pay off for them in 2024.
