Santo Dios (ARG): Should be Tighter In Next Start

Five year old full horse for Marcelo Polanco made his 1st start stateside in Sunday’s finale, a 1st condition allowance race at a mile on the turf. Off at 8/1 in an 11 horse field, he made the running from the get go and carved out a swift 1st quarter in 22.30 when making the lead into the clubhouse turn. He then slowed the pace down by Berrios with a 2nd quarter in 24.70. He had two on the field at the ¼ pole, found another gear late and battled down the lane to lose by just ¾ of a length at the wire. It was a strong effort considering he hadn’t been to the post since December of 2022. He was Grade 1 placed in his native Argentina and Polanco does well with these South American imports. He is certainly good enough to knock out this condition at Del Mar and should be much tighter for his next engagement.
